My Australian grandfather came over to Europe to fight in the Great War and ended up marrying my grandmother and staying in the UK for the rest of his life. I was fascinated by what Mike uncovered about his war record and his ancestors in Australia. Mike’s research was careful and thorough, and the report he produced was very readable. My family always maintained that my maternal grandmother was an orphan, and despite several attempts, I was unable to learn anything more about her past. It even turned out one of my forebears was lauded for his heroic efforts during a major mining disaster. And on my grandmother’s side I now know I have cheesemakers in my family background! I wasn't expecting much when we approached Mike but the project was amazing from start to finish. For such a reasonable price, Mike was able go trace our family history back to the 1800s.
